Happy Times, never to be forgotten

In Loving Memory of dear Phil, who brought a smile to my face every day of the time we were together.

I guess with me, you Phil, would thank those friends who put us up & put up with us in those early days, Mary, Pat & Steve and Dave, until we got our little flat by Plumtead Common. This soon became filled with rails of your costumes for your hilarious comedy sketches, where ever you are now, I just know you have a mic in your hand.

Fundation at The Tramshed in Woolwich, was a huge part of our lives, with Friday, Saturday & Sunday cabaret nights. Many an actor started there, Jim Carter, The Great Soprendo and Hale & Pace – who you brought to Joe’s attention after a talent show, the rest is history. You always thought of others before yourself. However without the stand-up / fall man, there would have been no Fundation, as for me, you tied it all together. You should have made the big time, but it was never the right time or right place for you.

I recall watching The Royal Wedding, Charles & Diana’s, surrounded by lace & satin  & frills & bows, by 6pm you were on stage, Bank Holiday Special, dressed in a pretty good replica of That Wedding Dress! There are nights too numerous to mention in Fundation…. However your renditions of In Dreams and Mule Train still crack me up, as you disappear across the stage on your roller skates! If only iPhones had been around in those times, there are few photos, but maybe that is for the best.

We had some sensible-ish moments, but usually fun, when you introduced me to Portugal’s Algarve and made me fall in love with it and your friends. Sun, sea & sangria…. The first you laid in, the second you stayed away from & the third, well, many a beer or two.

Phil, you were always a gentle gentleman, you portrayal of a slave, rowing a Viking Ship, in a Heineken TV advert really didn’t do you justice. The Uglies Agency has a lot to answer for!

Our song, We’ve Got Tonight, the Bob Seger version, still puts a shiver down my spine…

Rest In Peace babe, love always xx
